A number of individuals have been injured following a Delta Airlines aircraft from LA to Sydney was hit by turbulence Friday morning.

Flight DL41 "encountered brief turbulence" as it touched down at Sydney Airport, a representative for the carrier stated. Several cabin crew members sustained injuries.

Emergency medical services said they evaluated a total of five people, and transferred three of them to a medical facility with non-life-threatening injuries that included back pain and headaches. Those affected ranged from their 30s up to the 70s.

It is the most recent case of commercial jets experiencing turbulence, with experts pointing out that climate change is a significant contributor.

There were 245 people and 15 crew members on the wide-body jet, the Delta spokesperson said, clarifying that the plane landed "safely and normally" at Sydney Airport at shortly before 7 a.m. on Friday morning.

Paramedics said they received a call just only 180 seconds prior to the plane arrived, and response teams were waiting on the tarmac.
